In writing this entry, I am not writing on behalf of the organization or clubs. My view is only on the individual coaches teaching my boys and through the observations I have made while waiting for my boys to finish their lessons.
Clemens’ 9 Lesson
Clemens the Jet Plane
Time really flies and with the blink of the eyes, he is already in his 9th lesson. What I see today is a boy who is water confident unlike the first lesson. The difference seems to be so vast when I see him jumping into the deep pool with swimming boards tuck under each of his arm and away he went peddling with his froggy-style legs. There are times when he has been mischevious, twirling and turning himself around like a merry-go-round. The sight is such a hilarious one that till now as I am writing, I am still chuckling away upon recalling that image.
Anyway what matter most is his smiling face and his ability to overcome the fear of water. Teacher Jerry, I have to say has done a great job in developing this confidence in him. I believe in no time, Clemens will be swimming away when he has developed more strength in his arms.
Damir’s 1st Lesson
Damir's Hands are Stiff
Yeah!!!! The baby of the family has finally gone for his first lesson instead of waiting for his brother to finish his lesson (read: What About Damir?). However the irony of it is, the brothers are in a different school with different instrcutors. Nope don’t worry not that there is anything wrong with Teacher Jerry but it is just that he finds Damir a tad too young.
When I approached Teacher Andy from Aquatic Masters, I was also trying out my luck with Damir. Andy told me to bring Damir for a trial to see if he is water-ready. I guess due to Damir’s fearless nature, they clicked. I believe Andy also took a liking to Damir when he submerged Damir into the water. Most kids at his age (Damir will only turn 3 next Jan 10) I guess, will be fearful and crying but Damir was smiling away asking for more. It must have caught Andy by surprise. But I caught Damir’s fear when Andy tried to teach to relax so that he can float on water. His body and hands were stiff but overall he is still a natural.
I have seriously underestimated Damir’s power and ability to listen to instructions when I saw the both of them communicating.
Anyway at the end of the trial class, like any mother, I started to ask questions like how was Damir and if he was willing to teach to teach Damir. He replied Damir is good and great and even asked me to let Damir play with him first on a weekly basis. I was a little puzzled when he said, “play” and it only occured to me that he is not accepting any coaching fees from me till he feels Damir is ready. I felt really bad about it and offered to pay at least half since he is also using his time on Damir but he refused, For this I am really touched and of course embarressed. On the whole, I am truly grateful.
Grateful for the chance given to Damir.

Note:
What appeal to me might not be the same for you. Hence my advice to parents is no matter what class and course you are signing up for your children, please do make a visit down to the premises to observe with your own eyes and feel with your heart.
Lastly, there is nothing to compare about both Teacher Jerry and Teacher Andy. Each have their own unique way of dealing with kids depending on what your children need and their personality. Both coaches are by far the only few who caught my attention when I was searching for a swimming instructor for Clemens.
