The Chronicles of “Just A Woman”

A Remises of the Past, Pensive Thoughts of the Present & Wistful Hopes of the Future

Dresses, Shoes & ……

Posted by Ange on November 21, 2009

Last week, I was pondering about what to wear to my husband’s colleague’s wedding. Initially, I was thinking about a dress which I have bought during a sales at Dorthy Perkins. It was a really good buy with cutting that fit me nicely and a colour of teal blue that compliments my skin. I have a pair of shoes that goes really well but alas…. I do not have a bag to go with it and it is an all black clutch that I need.

My Ideal Clutch

A last minute shopping and hunting of 3 hours was all I have on hand after the boys’ swimming class and it was indeed a brain boggling one. With the limitations of the mall, there were other things to consider: the budget of not more than S$50.00, the number of times I am going to use it, the practicality of it and of course the chemistry I am going to have it.

I went in shop after shop (about 4 I guess), short listed the clutches and spend a few moments pacing in front of the mirror, posing with the clutches to see how well I will carry them. There was one that I particularly like but the price was a little off my budget by S$20.00 and judging by the size of it, I know it is not something I will use often. Perhaps once every 2 yrs. So I kept it to my very last in case I can’t find anything suitable.

I was already a little exasperated as the boys were getting tired and I know in another half an hour or so, we will need to return home. Well as I was about to give up when at around the corner, this baby caught my eyes and yet I have my concerns as I halfheartedly know that it is not going to go well with the intended dress I have in mind. Anyway, after posing a few times in front of the mirror and haggling with the price, I took a gamble and bought this baby back for S$40.00.

The Clutch I Bought

I was really happy with it but in a way I was right too. This clutch did not go well with the teal coloured dress, which made me a tad disappointed but time was running out I can’t be hunting for another clutch. Hence all I did was to borrow a simple black number from my mum, put on a pair of evening shoes and I was set to go.

Seriously speaking, after the dinner, I did wonder if all the hassle of trying to look good was worth while as the lime light will definitely be on the newly wedded. They will be the main dish and with so many side dishes around, who will notice me (just another side dish)?

But anyway I guess at the end of the day, it all boils down to me feeling good about myself and looking presentable which really gave me the boost of confidence. And all it matters to me was my the other half telling me how great looking I am. It is all worth it when he noticed. :)

    Ange,

You have it right in the end….. All that counts is if hubby likes it….. From the looks of it, I think everyone else liked it also….. How did your boys like it?
